n 1893, George Washington Scribner, being lured into farming by the rich, deep soils of the Sacramento River Delta, settled along what is now called Scribner Bend. The river bend became a vital shipping point, picking up produce, mail and passengers by steam boat.
The Scribner family has been in California for 5 generations, beginning with George Washington Scribner in 1893. Our ranch runs along the Sacramento Delta where our family has farmed for over 100 years. We are very excited to share with you the most recent addition to the Scribner family; our winery, Scribner Bend Vineyards
The original barn built in 1918 was featured in Sunset Magazine’s March issue “Winter Roaming along the Sacramento River” in 2002. Today the barn has been completely renovated and transformed into a unique tasting experience that includes the new Tuscan indoor venue room, tasting room and event for weddings, picnics, birthdays, reunions and more. In addition, we will be offering special invitation events such as “Crush Day”, Picking Day” and Pruning Day”.
In August of 2007 Scribner Bend completed its new Barrel and Crushing facility which allows us to bring the total experience home.
Also in November 2007 we completed our new indoor Tuscan room for private events, anniversary parties, small weddings and corporate events. Our new Tuscan room is complete with large chandeliers and a beautiful designed Tuscan fireplace.
Scribner Bend Wine Club members “Benders” continue to be a vital part of our winery. Mark and Lorraine each year try to bring in new ideas for the family Wine Club members and a commitment to quality wines.
The production of Scriber Bend wines is forever changing with the new trends in the wine industry and Mark is always looking to introduce something new and exciting as he did with our Tempranillo.
Our Family and Staff strive to make your experience with Scribner Bend one that will always be wonderful and memorable.
