History

In 1893, George Washington Scribner, lured into farming by the rich, deep soils of the Sacramento River Delta, settled along what is now called Scribner Bend.  The river bend became a vital shipping point, picking up produce, mail and passengers by steam boat.

The Scribner family has been in California for 5 generations, beginning with George Washington Scribner in 1893.  Our ranch runs along the Sacramento Delta where our family has farmed for over 100 years.  We are very excited to share with you the most recent addition to the Scribner family; our winery, Scribner Bend Vineyards.

The original barn built in 1918 was featured in Sunset Magazine’s 2002 March issue “Winter Roaming along the Sacramento River.”  Today the barn has been transformed into a unique space that includes our tasting room, meeting/event space,  loft, and offices.

In August of 2007 Scribner Bend completed its new Barrel and Crushing facility which allows us to bring the total experience home.  Our wines are estate grown and bottled, in fact they don't leave the property until purchased.
In 2013, we added a 50' x 60' tent with chandeliers for weddings and events.  In 2014, we laid concrete floor under the tent and added a beautiful outdoor fireplace with seating wall to complete the space.

Scribner Bend Wine Club members “Benders” continue to be a vital part of our winery.  Each year we try to bring in new ideas to our Wine Club members and maintain a commitment to our quality wines.

The production of Scriber Bend wines is forever changing with the new trends in the wine industry and we continue to look for new, interesting, and tasty additions to our award winning wines.

Our Family and Staff strive to make your experience with Scribner Bend one that will always be wonderful and memorable.
